  • To promote, train and mentor students for research.
  • To conduct orientation programs to orient students towards research.
  • To invite experts from other colleges to train and guide the student.
  • To conduct training sessions so as to prepare them to present research proposals.
  • To organize intra collegiate research competition.
  • To motivate and train students to take part in Avishkar Research Convention at the University level.

In the year 2015-16 we started the year with an orientation of students about Avishkar by Dr Pradeep Khamtekar, Avishkar Coordinator at University of Mumbai on 10th August 2015.

Avishkar Research Convention Committee was constituted for the first time in our college in academic year 2012-13 with Dr (Mrs) Anjum Ara M. K. Ahmad as the Convenor of the committee. The other committee members are Mrs Mariyah Ghor, Mr Vishwas Deshmukh and Mr Sameer Charania. The program received an overwhelming response from the Students. Due to the efforts taken by various teachers we managed to send sixteen groups to Inter-University Avishkar Research Convention held in Mumbai University. We had that year good representation of students from Botany and Zoology Department under the guidance of Dr. Nitesh Joshi, Prof Alkama and Dr. Shaheeda Rangonwala and Dr. Rana.
We organised many training sessions for students at college level. Our Principal Dr. M. Z. Faroooqui takes keen interest in these research activities. He is our main source of inspiration. Various experts from other colleges were called to train and guide our student.

Award Winners

We had two rounds of Competition. The first round was an intra-collegiate level round where three students were given prizes for their best project and presentation. Vignesh Salian of TYBAF whose research on 'Metering-The Unmetered' won him the first position in the intra-collegiate level. Ms Sheeba's project received the second prize. Ms Sheeba was trained by Alkama. Students who went upto the final level at the Intra- Collegiate round were trained and asked to participate at the University level. Six students from Undergraduate level and one student at the post graduate level participated in Avishkar Research Convention at the University. Two student Mr. Adil Shaikh and Mr. Mohsin Khan won at the Zonal Level both in Commerce & Management Category. Mr Adil Shaikh was trained by Dr (Mrs) Anjum Ara Ahmad and Mr. Mohsin Khan by Mrs Mariyah Ghori .Our Student Mustafa Rangwala also won at the Zonal level in the Humanities Category (PG level). Mr. Mustafa Rangwala was guided by Dr (Mrs.) Anjum Ara Ahmad & Mrs. Mariyah Ghor Ghori.
All this would not have been possible without the hard work put by the guiding teachers, the members of the Avishkar committee and the cooperation, motivation and support of our respected Principal Dr M Z Farooqui.

In the year 2014-15 Sixteen students participated in Avishkar Research Convention, one student Miss. Alvani Sayyada Ali Raza won Zonal round at University level in Commerce & Management Category and one student Miss. Sana Firoz Akhtar Khan secured a 3rd Place in University round in Humanities category. Dr (Mrs) Anjum Ara Ahmad guided Mr Alvani Sayyada and Ms Sana Firoz was guided by Mrs Mariyah Gour.

In the year 2013-14 seven students took part in Avishkar Research Convention, two students of ours won the Gold Medal at the University level. One of our Student Mustafa Rangwala got the Runner's up Trophy in the Inter- University Research Convention organized by North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon in the Humanities Category at the Under Graduate level. He was felicitated by our Honourable Vice-Chancellor Dr Rajan Welukar in a special function organised by University of Mumbai. Mr. Mustafa Rangwala was ably guided by Dr. (Mrs) Anjum Ara M K Ahmad and Ms Mariyah Ghor Ghori. Mumbai University had also declared a scholarship of Rs 3000/- per month for ten months to Mustafa to fund his research project.

Three Students and one teacher won at the Zonal Level in various categories. Our Student Mr. Mustafa Rangwala went ahead and won the first prize at the University Level in the Undergraduate Section of Commerce Faculty. He also represented Mumbai University at the Inter- University Level in Dapoli. He was felicitated by the Pro- Vice Chancellor Dr Naresh Chandra in a special function organised by University of Mumbai. Mr. Mustafa Rangwala was ably guided by Prof (Mrs) Anjum Ara M K Ahmad.
The Student who won at the Zonal Level in the Post Graduate Category in Commerce Faculty was Miss Sheetal Deepak Talreja. She also ranked third at the University final round. Prof Ashfaque Karim had guided her. Miss Ateqa Parveen Qureshi won at the Zonal Level in Arts Section at the Under Graduate Level. She was guided by our Prof Abbas Alam Rizvi. Prof (Mrs) Mariyah Ghor Ghori also helped her in presenting the project.
Our Faculty Prof. Vishwas Deshmukh from Physics Department won at the Zonal Level in the PhD Students (Teacher) Category in the Pure Science Section.
