The course objective is to enhance the student's economic literacy. Upon completion, the student will be able to critically evaluate economic arguments appearing in the daily media.

Role of graduates
After the accomplishment of the three year B.A. program, the graduating generation is expect to join both public and private sectors of the economy. To this fact, it is expected that these graduates are going to engage in developmental works and capable of undertaking better problem talking strategies with their respective attachments and more will put their potential efforts nation building.

The department of economics was established ever since its inception in 1985. To expose and explore the concepts of economics and its application in the real world is the objective of this department. Having numerous practical applications, learning economics immensely help the students in getting good job opportunities and also the chance to pursue their higher studies majoring in economics. The Department of Economics offers Economics as a subject at the First year, Second year and Third year level of Bachelor of Arts (BA) having 9 papers altogether. The papers taught in various classes are given as under:
FYBA : Microeconomics
SYBA : (a) Macroeconomics and (b) Indian economy
i) Advanced Economic Theory
ii) Growth and Development
iii) Industrial Relations
iv) Research Methodology
v) International Economics and
vi) Computer Application to Economic Analysis.
We encourage the students to actively participate in learning economics. Weak students are encouraged to create interest in learning the subject with enthusiasm. The department also promotes the students to take part in economics related intercollegiate programmes.
